If you're among the
many folks who like their country music with a touch of that
"Nashville" sound, Clay Potter's A New Man Now
might be just what you've been looking for. Potter's music is
traditional country and it definitely has that George Strait
kind of Nashville sound to it.
The ten tunes on A New Man Now were all either written
or co-written by Clay Potter. In keeping with that traditional
country sound, Potter's lyrics cover traditional country subjects-
Lovin', Losing, Drinking, Cheatin'. Potter has an excellent country
voice, and again, his delivery has a sound reminiscent of George
Strait. The songs all tend to be upbeat and well written. Potter
covers his simple subjects with some clever lyrics.
I always wanted a girl like you
And I'm a natural born bull slinger
But when I threw you a line or two
You just gave me the finger
Potter(who plays lead guitar) is backed up on stage by his
band of solid musicians, Texas Heat, whose members are: Bobby
Neal on drums, Michael W Black on bass, and Garry Lindsey on
fiddle and vocals, and Bob Ogle on steel guitar. Basel Dudley
handles the band's sound system and lighting. Clay Potter and
Texas Heat have a busy schedule playing at a variety of local
clubs and dance halls, along with private parties. They pride
themselves on being entertainers, and not just a "stand
there and play" band.
