How much can one fan of OKOM (Our Kind Of Music) accomplish in just a couple of years? Plenty, if it's Rockzilla, aka photographer Michael Johnson. From 2003 to 2005, rockzilla.net was a chronicle of the alt.country scene from a uniquely Texan perspective. But all good things must end, and Rockzilla has retired from the online 'zine scene.

 State of the Planet Address- Fall 2002
  
 

 

The state of the planet, as far as we at Rockzillaworld are concerned, is...OK. Two and a half years into this thing and we're still plugging away.

Our readership continues to maintain steady growth. We recently broke the 100,000 visitor mark, and I'm pretty damned proud of that. It took a lot of effort by some extremely hard working people to pull it off. Hopefully they will be repaid someday for their work.

The Rockzillaworld writers, led by our sometimes verbose but always relevant editor William Michael Smith, have amassed an amazing body of work. There are over 600 album and concert reviews on the Rockzillaworld site. That's an impressive number but, hey, that's just what we do.

Yep, we've had a pretty good year, so far, and I expect it to get even better. We recently locked in a date for the 3rd Annual Rockzillaworld Music Awards. We are moving to a little bigger room this time. The show has outgrown our home at the Lone Star Café & Club, and we have decided to move to the Top Rail Ballroom.

Our little bit of success here has not gone unnoticed, either. I've gotten numerous offers over the past few months from folks offering to let us "team up" with them. Honestly, a couple of them have been tempting, but...well...hell...we just don't work well with others.

So, we're just going to keep on doing our thing our way, and we that hope you keep reading our site. We do know how many choices you have, and we appreciate any time that you devote to us.
